Best Lasik Eye Correction Surgery

There are many different types of refractive surgery options available for restoring vision. One benefit of surgical correction is that it yields a permanent vision solution.
With the new technology currently available, the procedures are done quickly and safely on an outpatient basis with minimal side effects and complications. Generally speaking, good candidates for laser eye correction are healthy people who have maintained stable vision for at least one year. There may be some medical conditions that prohibit people from having this procedure. Only with a comprehensive examination and consultation, can you really be sure you are a good candidate for refractive eye surgery

INTACS
Intacs are small plastic polymer inserts that are surgically implanted in the periphery of the cornea. Two small incisions are made and the INTACS inserts are placed on the cornea with a centering guide. No laser is used during this process, and the inserts can be removed so this is NOT a permanent correction. The insert is a bit like a contact lens except that they are not visible and unlike contacts they are maintenance free. INTACS are effective for treating mild cases of nearsightedness (myopia).
Phakic Intraocular Lens-PIOL
Phakic Intraocular Lens-PIOL is a surgical procedure used to correct severe farsightedness (hyperopia) and nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism often when visual correction needed is outside the correctable range required for LASIK eye surgery. The surgical procedure is similar to the one used implanting INTACTS. Depending on the type of correction needed PIOL involves either a rigid lens or a flexible/foldable lens to be implanted in order to improve visual acuity
Conventional LASIK
Conventional LASIK surgery involves a procedure in which a flap of corneal tissue is created with a mechanical knife called the microkeratome. The laser energy is then applied to the cornea underneath the flap. The flap is then replaced to cover the area that has been reshaped by the laser. LASIK is FDA approved to treat farsightedness (hyperopia), nearsightedness (myopia), and astigmatism
Wave front-guided LASIK
Wave front-guided LASIK is a procedure that utilizes a wave front technology diagnostic to evaluate and target problem specific areas in your vision. This technology then creates a map that is used by the laser to sculpt the cornea in order to resolve diagnosed visual problems.
IntraLASIK
IntraLASIK surgery creates the flap by using a separate laser instead of creating the flap with a mechanical microkeratome, everything else then follows the procedure for common LASIK surgery.
PRK and LASEK
PRK and LASEK surgeries are also known as Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA). In these procedures, no flap is created. With ASA, the laser energy is applied directly to the surface of the cornea. ASA procedures can either be conventional or wave front-guided.
PAI LASIK
PAI LASIK is the newest and most current LASIK treatment available. It is used to correct more severe visual acuity problems. A corneal flap is created and a synthetic PAI is placed on the stromal bed while the laser makes the correction on the inlay instead of the corneal tissue. The flap is replaced and vision acuity is restored.
Protect Your Vision
Visual health is vital to your overall well being and Laser eye correction may be an excellent option for you. Be sure to consult a professional optometrist or doctor in order to receive a thorough evaluation to see if you are an appropriate candidate for LASIK eye correction surgery and to help you explore all the other non surgical eye correction procedures that may be available to help you correct and restore your visual acuity problems.
