Blepharitis Treatment

There are several ways to treat blepharitis. In the case of allergic blepharitis the most popular treatment involves cleaning the eyelids every day
in order to reduce blepharitis symptoms. This can be done with water or with baby shampoo diluted in warm water. It must be noted that this won't eliminate blepharitis, only reduce its nuisance.

You can also use herbs for blepharitis. Certain plants contain determined chemicals that can help you with the inflammation of your eyelids. Among the herbs that you may choose for treating your ailment, you may use goldenseal, eyebright or mullein. The first step is to make a tea out of those plants.

Once it reaches a comfortable temperature, soak a clean cloth in it in order to make the compress. Apply the compress over your eye and leave it there for 10 to 15 minutes. Relax. Let the herbs make their effect. Once your skin is humid enough, make another compress and remove any material that your skin may have ejected. Do it two times per day, or as much as you may consider it is necessary.

Although blepharitis isn't considered a dangerous ailment, there are situations in which it is in your best interest to look for professional help. For example, if you notice that your vision is being compromised, you need to make an appointment with your ophthalmologist. He will evaluate what is happening with your eye and determine the kind of treatment that you need.

Other situations in which you should look for the help of a doctor is when you have pain in the eye, or a lesion in the lid that increases in size with every day that passes. In case you suddenly loose your vision, then that can be considered an emergency; go immediately to the emergency department of the nearest hospital in order to be examined.

Although there is no real blepharitis cure, fortunately there are several steps that you can take in order to improve, little by little, your condition. Visit your dermatologist and ask him about your condition and what kind of blepharitis treatment you need to follow. It is in your best interest because, if you don't do anything, you may end suffering from chronic blepharitis.
